Lex and Frankie recently had the absolute pleasure of attending the Social Media Marketing World 2024 in sunny San Diego, CA, and let us tell you, it was a whirlwind of inspiration, insights, and unforgettable moments.
Picture this: A vibrant gathering of like-minded individuals, all eager to soak up the latest trends and strategies in the ever-evolving world of social media. From seasoned professionals to budding content creators, the energy was palpable as we dove headfirst into a jam-packed schedule of workshops, keynotes, and networking events.
One of the highlights of our time at the conference was getting to rub shoulders with industry experts and thought leaders who are shaping the landscape of social media marketing. We had the privilege of learning from the best in the business, gaining invaluable knowledge on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and beyond.
One standout moment was hearing from the man himself, Michael Stelzner, host of the Social Media Examiner podcast. With his infectious energy and insightful anecdotes (complete with Buzz Lightyear and Woody references from Toy Story!), he reminded us of the importance of adaptation and innovation in a world that’s constantly changing. As he eloquently put it, it’s not just about surviving, but thriving in the face of disruption.
And who could forget the electrifying keynote by Wall-Street best selling author Ann Handley? Drawing parallels between the new Barbie movie and the chaotic world of social media marketing, she challenged us to embrace our individuality and break free from the confines of clichés. Her message resonated deeply as we reflected on the power of authenticity and originality in our content. (Her awesome pink suit and Barbie t-shirt were also a plus).
But it wasn’t all serious business – we also had plenty of fun along the way! From uncovering the secrets of LinkedIn’s elusive algorithms (did you know only 10% of your audience actually sees your posts?) to debating the merits of short-form video content, every session left us buzzing with excitement and ideas.
Of course, no conference experience would be complete without making new connections. And in an even smaller world, bringing people together after years with no connection. (Lex ran into her old dance teacher from Buffalo, NY. Crazy!!) We had the pleasure of meeting so many incredible people who share our passion for social media marketing, and we’re excited to stay connected and continue learning from each other, while watching eachother grow.
As we bid farewell to Social Media Marketing World 2024, we’re filled with a renewed sense of purpose and determination. Armed with the knowledge and insights we’ve gained, we’re ready to put our newfound skills to the test and take our social media game to new heights.
